To maintain accreditation, the Albany Police Department is scheduled for an on-site assessment in June 2023 to achieve reaccreditation by verifying compliance with established professional law enforcement standards. Our department is currently the third law enforcement agency in Oregon to hold this status. The Albany Police Department proudly became internationally accredited on November 16, 2019, through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. Please report suspicious activity like this to the non-emergency number 50 or 911 in the case of an emergency. Please get yourself to a safe, public place to inspect your vehicle if possible. The PPB is asking the community to please be aware of your surroundings and be careful when things like this occur. The PPB wanted to release this information soon to notify the public and reduce further thefts by these suspects. This is an ongoing investigation and additional information is limited at this time. The suspects and vehicle description was similar to the previous incidents. In this incident, the suspects pulled in front of a driver in an attempt to get them to stop but the person was able to get around the suspects and continue on. The third incident (23-58477) was reported at 12:41 p.m. When that person got out of their car to inspect the problem, the suspects jumped in and stole the victim’s car. The victim in this case said two male suspects told the victim their car was on fire. The second incident (23-58467) was reported at 12:29 p.m. When the person got out to inspect their vehicle, the suspect passenger got out and stole the victim’s purse. The victim said two suspects got her attention by saying her gas tank was smoking. The first incident (23-58447) was reported at 12:09 p.m. On Sunday, March 5, 2023, the Portland Police Bureau responded to three separate calls for service where two suspects are driving around, distracting other drivers and taking that opportunity to victimize them. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Aumsville Police Department, Cascade Junior High School, Cascade School District, and North Santiam School District during this investigation. The case remains under investigation, no additional information is available for release at this time. School Counselors will be available to process with any students who have concerns brought up by this situation. Parents, students, and school staff can anticipate additional law enforcement presence around Cascade Junior High School tomorrow morning as school continues as scheduled. In addition to contacting local law enforcement, anonymous reports can be made through SafeOregon’s website, by texting or calling 84, sending an email to or using the SafeOregon app on your phone. We want to remind students, parents, and our community members about the importance of coming forward when seeing or hearing about threatening behavior in our schools. We appreciate the positive working relationship we have with the Cascade School District and Aumsville Police Department which allowed us to quickly and thoroughly investigate the threat.” We are committed to doing our part to maintain a safe environment for students at schools throughout Marion County. A safety plan is in place for both individuals.Įnforcement Commander Jeff Stutrud stated, “We want to thank the community member who brought the information about the threat to local law enforcement. A second juvenile, a 12-year-old male, was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree and released to his parents. He was taken to the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center. No weapons were found in the juvenile’s possession. Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office worked closely with officials from the Cascade School District to identify the involved students and were able to determine the source of the threat.Īn 11-year-old male was arrested Sunday afternoon at his residence and is being charged with Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree. On Saturday, March 4, 2023, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Aumsville Police Department after they received a tip that a student had threatened over text message to take a gun to Cascade Junior High School.
